Pleasant, but not remarkable. The bottle art may be more interesting than the brew. I'd drink it again, if someone else bought it for me.

Birthday Beers!

Tonight was pizzaboy's birthday, which calls for...beer! We had two enjoyable offerings tonight, and two less so.

Froach Heather Ale: tasty, comprable to the best of the abbey ales. Flowery and wonderful!

Bear Republic Racer 5 Ale: Maybe the hoppiest ale we've had. Flowery nose, 7% alcohol but sneaky with it. Go Racer Ale Go!

Not so good...
Double Dragon: The Official Ale of Wales. Uninspired. The Welsh can keep it.

Hale's Troll Porter: This troll needs to stay under the bridge. Molassasy, could not be finished. Smells nice, tastes nice at first but turns trollish and disagreeable.

Let's start with the standards

We have a couple of favorite breweries, The Elysian and Stone. A few of the offerings are always on our shelves:

Stone Arrogant Bastard: A favorite of nexus and pizzaboy, the AB is assertive and powerful, it's a full flavored, strong in the mouth beer that packs a kick. A good kick.

Elysian Immortal IPA: An ale worthy of mighty Zeus, this is hoppy and flavorful. gojirama would happily drink nothing but this one forever (except for my coffee).

Elysian Perseus Porter: Dark and rich, well balanced and smooth

Stone IPA: A close runner up to Immortal one, it's a must for hopheads.

Elysian Wise ESB: Smoother and more subtle than the Arrogant One, almost beats it out for pure pleasure.

Stone Double Bastard: All of the Arrogant one, and then some. Great beer if you can get it (a seasonal offering, usually gone before you can get to it)
